Oskar Schlemmer born 4 September 1888 (died in 13 April 1943) was a German painter, sculptor, designer and choreographer associated with the Bauhaus school. He was one of the most versatile all-rounders of the last century and as unusual as a painter as he was as a sculptor, draughtsman, graphic artist, stage designer, wall designer, creator of epochal dance projects and author. His vision was the “new” man living in functional architecture, thinking clearly and acting clearly in the modern age which would never again sink into the chaos of war.

Schlemmer retrospective for almost forty years presents over 250 high-quality works, in particular the seven original costumes of the Triadisches Ballett (Triadic Ballet) together with rare documents of the time. The connection between the all-encompassing attempts at reform of the Bauhaus are discussed as well as Schlemmer’s vain attempts to reconcile his “unpolitical” art with the Nazi dictatorship’s ideas of state-controlled art. The focus will be directed towards Schlemmer’s lofty ethical demands, which always regarded man, typified as a “Kunstfigur” (artistic figure) as the “measure of all things”.

In 1923 he was hired as Master of Form at the Bauhaus theatre workshop, after working some time at the workshop of sculpture. His most famous work is "Triadisches Ballett," in which the actors are transfigured from the normal to geometrical shapes. Also in Slat Dance and Treppenwitz, the performers' costumes make them into living sculpture, as if part of the scenery.

In 1919 Schlemmer turned to sculpture and had an exhibition of his work at the Gallery Der Sturm in Berlin. After his marriage to Helena Tutein in 1920, Schlemmer was invited to Weimar by Walter Gropius to run the mural-painting and sculpture departments at the Bauhaus School before heading up the theater workshop in 1923.

His complex ideas were influential, making him one of the most important teachers working at the school at that time. However, due to the heightened political atmosphere in Germany at the end of the 1920s, and in particular with the appointment of the radical communist architect Hannes Meyer as Gropius's successor, in 1929 Schlemmer resigned his position and moved to take up a job at the Art Academy in Breslau.

Schlemmer became known internationally with the première of his 'Triadisches Ballett' in Stuttgart in 1922. His work for the Bauhaus and his preoccupation with the theatre are an important factor in his work, which deals mainly with the problematic of the figure in space.

People, typically stylised faceless female figures, continued to be the predominant subject in his painting. While at Bauhaus, he developed the multidisciplinary course "Der Mensch (The human being)." In the human form he saw a measure that could provide a foothold in the disunity of his time. After using Cubism as a springboard for his structural studies, Schlemmer's work became intrigued with the possibilities of figures and their relationship to the space around them, for example 'Egocentric Space Lines' (1924).

Oskar Schlemmer's characteristic forms can be seen in his sculptures as well as his paintings. Yet he also turned his attention to stage design, first getting involved with this in 1929, executing settings for the opera 'Nightingale' and the ballet 'Renard' by Igor Stravinsky.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-64926767686845248652018-09-01T14:51:00.003+07:002018-09-01T14:51:48.661+07:00Fatima Surayya Bajia a Drama Writer Honored By Google Doodle's Today

Prayoon Yomyiam, a singer affectionately known in Thailand as Mae Prayoon or “Mother Prayoon.” Born on this day in 1933, she began singing at the age of 15 in a style of traditional Thai folk music known as Lam Tad. Originating in central Thailand, this popular form of antiphonal singing involves groups of men and women who take turns playfully poking fun at each other with improvised humorous lyrics, accompanied by a drum called a Klong Ramana.

Renowned for her clever lyrics with dual meanings (a technique known in Thailand as song ngae song ngam) Prayoon Yomyiam never failed to delight audiences. Cassette recordings and videos of her Lam Tad performances circulated widely throughout Thailand, helping to promote the Lam Tad tradition and keep it alive. By 1994 she was named a National Artist of Thailand, a title conferred annually by the National Culture Commission of Thailand recognizing notable artists in the country’s cultural heritage.

Prayoon helped to preserve and popularize the Lam Tad style of music, which once faced extinction before being introduced into nationwide popular culture via television. Aside from helping the music make a comeback domestically, she introduced Lam Tad to other countries as part of Thailand’s state-sponsored tourism campaign. Using her talents to spread laughter and cheer, Yomyiam helped keep Thailand’s folk culture alive for generations to come.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-44266261041082633652018-08-29T22:13:00.000+07:002018-08-29T22:13:25.662+07:00Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky Photographs Technique, Biography and CareerSergey Mikhaylovich Prokudin-Gorsky was a Russian chemist and photographer. He is best known for his pioneering work in color photography of early 20th-century Russia.

Prokudin-Gorsky was born in the ancestral estate of Funikova Gora, in what is now Kirzhachsky District, Vladimir Oblast. His parents were of the Russian nobility, and the family had a long military history. They moved to Saint Petersburg, where Prokudin-Gorsky enrolled in Saint Petersburg State Institute of Technology to study chemistry under Dmitri Mendeleev. He also studied music and painting at the Imperial Academy of Arts.

Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorsky was a photographer who’s experience in chemistry created one of the earliest techniques of color photography, which he used to document the scope of the Russian empire prior to the revolution, giving us a glimpse into the lives and cultures of the time.

He conducted many illustrated lectures of his work. His photographs offer a vivid portrait of a lost world—the Russian Empire on the eve of World War I and the coming Russian Revolution. His subjects ranged from the medieval churches and monasteries of old Russia, to the railroads and factories of an emerging industrial power, to the daily life and work of Russia’s diverse population
The photographs of Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii (1863–1944) offer a vivid portrait of a lost world—the Russian Empire on the eve of World War I and the coming revolution. His subjects ranged from the medieval churches and monasteries of old Russia, to the railroads and factories of an emerging industrial power, to the daily life and work of Russia’s diverse population.

In the early 1900s Prokudin-Gorskii formulated an ambitious plan for a photographic survey of the Russian Empire that won the support of Tsar Nicholas II. Between 1909–1912, and again in 1915, he completed surveys of eleven regions, traveling in a specially equipped railroad car provided by the Ministry of Transportation.

It is said that Prokudin-Gorsky had created some 3,500 negatives in his journeys across the Russian Empire, although only about 1,902 have been recovered.

The technique in itself would take three different images, each through a certain filter. When put through a certain light, the photos would recreate the original scene in full color. It would only be until nearly a century later when Prokudin-Gorsky’s original negatives, purchased by the Library of Congress in 1948, would be fully put together, the photographer unfortunately, did not live to see his life’s work realized.
Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky Career in photography

In 1890, Prokudin-Gorsky married Anna Aleksandrovna Lavrova, and later the couple had two sons, Mikhail and Dmitri, and a daughter, Ekaterina.

Prokudin-Gorsky subsequently became the director of the executive board of Lavrov's metal works near Saint Petersburg and remained so until the October Revolution. He also joined Russia's oldest photographic society, the photography section of the IRTS, presenting papers and lecturing on the science of photography.

In 1901, he established a photography studio and laboratory in Saint Petersburg. In 1902, he traveled to Berlin and spent six weeks studying color sensitization and three-color photography with photochemistry professor Adolf Miethe, the most advanced practitioner in Germany at that time.

Throughout the years, Prokudin-Gorsky's photographic work, publications and slide shows to other scientists and photographers in Russia, Germany and France earned him praise, and in 1906 he was elected the president of the IRTS photography section and editor of Russia's main photography journal, the Fotograf-Liubitel. Gorsky was a member of the Royal Photographic Society between 1920 and 1932.

Lithograph print of Leo Tolstoy in front of Prokudin-Gorsky's camera in Yasnaya Polyana, 1908
Perhaps Prokudin-Gorsky's best-known work during his lifetime was his color portrait of Leo Tolstoy, which was reproduced in various publications, on postcards, and as larger prints for framing.

The fame from this photo and his earlier photos of Russia's nature and monuments earned him invitations to show his work to the Russian Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich and Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna in 1908, and to Tsar Nicholas II and his family in 1909.

The Tsar enjoyed the demonstration, and, with his blessing, Prokudin-Gorsky got the permission and funding to document Russia in color.

In the course of ten years, he was to make a collection of 10,000 photos.

Prokudin-Gorsky considered the project his life's work and continued his photographic journeys through Russia until after the October Revolution.

He was appointed to a new professorship under the new regime, but he left the country in August 1918. He still pursued scientific work in color photography, published papers in English photography journals and, together with his colleague S. O. Maksimovich, obtained patents in Germany, England, France and Italy.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-39086354855772827012018-08-27T12:04:00.000+07:002018-08-27T12:04:14.372+07:00First Ascent of the Zugspitze Germany Highest Mountain

The first people to ascend the Zugspitze were Lieutenant Josef Naus, a 27-year-old engineer from the Royal Bavarian Army, his mountain guide Johann Georg Tauschl, and a military orderly named Maier. Lieutenant Naus was employed by the Royal Bavarian Topographic Bureau, putting together an Atlas of Bavaria. Seeking to prove that this pinnacle was the loftiest in the Kingdom of Bavaria, they trekked across glaciers covered with melting ice— conditions ripe for avalanches.

Setting out in July they made their way across the largest glacier, proceeding to a shepherd’s hut from which they would attempt to climb the summit. After a short night’s rest, Naus’ party undertook their ascent on August 27, 1820, reaching the top seven hours and forty-five minutes later. Storms soon enfolded the mountain, hastening the men’s descent.

Today, visitors can take a cable car up the steep incline to the top, where they are rewarded with awe-inspiring views of the many jagged limestone peaks forming the border between Germany and Austria.

Some believe that local climbers—gatherers or hunters—may have beaten the Naus survey team to the summit before 1820. But Naus, Tauschl, and Maier were the first to prove their success in reaching the pinnacle. Today’s Doodle celebrates the Zugspitze immensity, beauty, and its importance to both Austria and Germany.

The Zugspitze is also an attractive destination for non-skiers: Right at the top, an impressive 360° panorama opens up to reveal extensive views over 400 mountain peaks in four countries. The Zugspitze-Exhibition enhances visitors’ awareness of the historical developments of Germany’s most famous mountain. Two toboggan runs, Germany’s highest church, an igloo village and excellent mountain restaurants are reason enough for smiling faces. Only while sunbathing on the inviting deckchairs may you find that your eyelids droop for a well-earned snooze.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Unnamed Road, 36211 Alheim, Germany51.010204737777727 9.663103724999928140.78887573777773 -10.991193275000072 61.231533737777724 30.317400724999928tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-51965907777450009622018-08-27T01:40:00.000+07:002018-08-27T01:40:03.982+07:00Sir Donald George Bradman Facts and Biography

Sir Donald Bradman George is an Australian cricketer who is widely recognized as the greatest hitman of all time. Sir Donald Bradman was born in Cootamundra, New South Wales, Australia on August 27, 1908. He was the youngest of George Bradman who was a carpenter with his wife Emily Bradman. At first he and his family lived on Yeo Yeo, but when Bradman was 2.5 years old (1911) he and his family moved to Bowral because his mother's health deteriorated.

Bradman learned cricket from his uncle, George and Richard Whatman. He began practicing the throw by throwing a golf ball at a tank in his backyard. Stepping on teenagers, Bradman began testing cricket matches held every Saturday in his country. Here he starts to score a lot.

In 1926, the New South Wales Cricket Association, which was looking for a Bowlers, asked Bradman to play in a trial match. In the match, Bradman only managed to score a simple score. Even so, he still attracted public attention as a future player.

Bradman started playing cricket at a higher level by joining the St George club in Sydney (he later played for North Sydney after moving to Adelaide, South Australia and with the Kensington club in 1935). In 1927, Bradman played the first time for New South Wales against South Australia, where he also performed brilliantly. After a series of big scores at the start of the 1928-1929 season, Bradman was chosen to play Australia against English club Perry Chapman. In his inaugural match, Bradman performed poorly to slump to 12th.

He scored two centuries in the remaining time and established his position on the Australian team. Bradman's career did not always run smoothly, he was criticized extensively by the public because of Bradman's inadvertent style, and tended to pass the bat. However, Bradman answered his critics by consistently garnering a big score for 20 years in a career in the world of cricket. In 1936 Bradman was appointed Australian captain to compete against Gubby Allen club.

He continued to captain Australia until 1948, although having missed five years of cricket caused by World War II, Bradman remains the most successful captain. In 24 matches when Bradman was captain, the Australian team scored 15 wins, 3 defeats and 6 draws. After retiring, Bradman received his knighthood in January 1949. He was also elected chairman of the Australian Cricket Council. During his term as chairman, he made the decision to cancel the visit of the Australian cricket team to South Africa in 1971 as a form of opposition to apartheid politics that occurred there. Until 1973, Bradman also served as President of the South Australian Cricket Association. After truly leaving the world of cricket, Bradman began his career in the financial industry. He works for Hodgetts HW and Company on the Adelaide Exchange.

After his wife's death in 1997, Bradman began to seem to lose his enthusiasm. In 2000, he was hospitalized for pneumonia. Bradman returned to his home in the new year and died there on February 25, 2001 at the age of 92 years. A memorial service for Bradman was held on March 25, 2001 at Peter's Anglican Cathedral, Adelaide. The ceremony was attended by a number of old and present cricket players, Australian minister John Howard, leader of opposition party Kim Beazley and former Prime Minister Bob Hawke. This ceremony was broadcast live on ABC television for the public and watched by more than 1.45 million people.
Google Doodle's Tribute Sir Donald George Bradman Today

A hero to Australian cricket fans, Sir Donald George Bradman, affectionately known as “The Don,” is considered the greatest batsman of all time. Born on this day in Cootamundra, New South Wales in 1908, Bradman developed his skills by hitting a golf ball off the curved base of a water tank, using a cricket stump, which is much narrower than a bat. The ball came back to him fast and at all angles. “I found I had to be pretty quick on my feet and keep my wits about me,” he said, “and in this way I developed, unconsciously, perhaps, sense of distance and pace.” Using his own unique grip and batting stance, he achieved a lifetime test batting average of 99.4, which many consider to be one of the greatest achievements by any athlete in a sport.

He made his debut in 1927 at 19 years old, in a first-class match between his New South Wales team and Adelaide, scoring a “century”—118 runs, to be exact—in his very first match. He was so talented and so consistent, he averaged at least one century every three innings over the course of his 21-year test match career. He amassed a total of 6,996 runs in 52 Test matches—making him a top contender for the title of best cricketer to ever step on a pitch. When Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack polled 100 former cricketers and journalists to determine the top cricketers of the 20th century, “The Don” was nominated by all 100.

Through the 1930s and 40s, Bradman set the world standard in the sport, scoring 309 runs in one often-cited game at Headingley Cricket Ground in England. After his retirement he remained a fixture in the cricket world as an administrator and commentator. Bradman was honored with a museum during his lifetime, called the “the greatest living Australian” by the Prime Minister, and knighted in 1949. Despite the accolades he earned, he remained a courteous and modest man.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-76648330036963481732018-08-25T00:20:00.004+07:002018-08-25T00:20:44.885+07:00Leonard Bernstein West Side Story Musical

West Side Story is a musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. It was inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet (Wikipedia).

The story is set in the Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City in the mid 1950s, an ethnic, blue-collar neighborhood (in the early 1960s, much of the neighborhood was cleared in an urban renewal project for the Lincoln Center, which changed the neighborhood's character).

The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. The members of the Sharks, from Puerto Rico, are taunted by the Jets, a white gang. The young protagonist, Tony, a former member of the Jets and best friend of the gang's leader, Riff, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre.

What's Google Doodle said about American music icon: Leonard Bernstein

He is The youngest conductor ever to lead the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, he was also the first U.S. conductor to gain international renown, leading a 1953 performance of ‘Medea’ at La Scala in Milan, Italy's foremost opera house.

The son of Russian Jewish immigrants, Bernstein discovered music around age 10 and overcame his parents’ resistance to his passion for the arts.

His creativity and talent spilled over from one artform to the next, and throughout his life, the most persistent criticisms of his work were that he did too much. “I want to conduct,” he wrote late in life. “I want to play the piano. I want to write for Hollywood. I want to write symphonic music. I want to keep on trying to be, in the full sense of that wonderful word, a musician. I also want to teach. I want to write books and poetry. And I think I can still do justice to them all.''

Today’s Doodle celebrates Bernstein’s life set to one of his most iconic works, the score to West Side Story. The tale, following the turf war between two rival gangs and star-crossed lovers in the west side of Manhattan, was brought to life through Bernstein’s gripping score. The original 1957 production was nominated for six Tony Awards including Best Musical. Explore the history and legacy of the iconic musical by visiting Google Arts & Culture.

A larger-than-life personality, Bernstein held the baton with emphatic mannerisms, reacting to the emotion of the music mid-performance. As Director of the New York Philharmonic, he exposed generations of young people to musical programming on television. Before Bernstein’s tenure, no widely-aired television show existed to educate youth through musical performances. In this way, and as a popular commentator about music on radio and TV, he made intellectual culture more accessible to the public at large.

Bernstein was also a skilled lecturer - winning a Grammy in 1961 for Best Documentary or Spoken Word Recording (other than comedy). He published books about music and lectured on poetry at Harvard University.

Leonard Bernstein legacy endures as a musical polymath, a creator of culture, and an example that sometimes more is more.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-3290532097872300422018-08-23T20:34:00.001+07:002018-08-23T20:34:10.681+07:00Guillain Barré Syndrome Symptoms and CauseGuillain Barre syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. As a result of the attack, the nerve insulation (myelin) and sometimes even the inner covered part of the nerve (axon) is damaged and signals are delayed or otherwise changed. The resultant antibodies attack the myelin sheath, and sometimes the axon, causing paralysis and muscular weakness as well as strange sensations, as the sensory nerves of the skin may be affected.

These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In its most severe form Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.

Usually, the symptoms start in the feet or legs and progress up the body over a few days or weeks. The disorder can be mild, moderate or severe, with life support needed in the worst cases. The exact cause is unknown and there is no known cure. Most people spontaneously recover, although some will be left with permanent disabilities.

This rare illness strikes between two and eight people in every 100,000, regardless of gender or age, although it is more common in the 30 to 50 years age group. Other names for Guillain-Barré syndrome include acute idiopathic polyneuritis, acute idiopathic polyradiculoneuritis and Landry's ascending paralysis.

The exact cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome is unknown. But it is often preceded by an infectious illness such as a respiratory infection or the stomach flu.

There's no known cure for Guillain-Barre syndrome, but several treatments can ease symptoms and reduce the duration of the illness. Most people recover from Guillain-Barre syndrome, though some may experience lingering effects from it, such as weakness, numbness or fatigue.

Guillain Barré Syndrome Symptoms

Guillain-Barre syndrome often begins with tingling and weakness starting in your feet and legs and spreading to your upper body and arms. In about half of people with the disorder, symptoms begin in the arms or face. As Guillain-Barre syndrome progresses, muscle weakness can evolve into paralysis.

Guillain Barré Syndrome Causes

The exact cause of Guillain-Barre syndrome isn't known. The disorder usually appears days or weeks after a respiratory or digestive tract infection. Rarely, recent surgery or immunization can trigger Guillain-Barre syndrome. Recently, there have been a few cases reported following infection with the Zika virus.

In Guillain-Barre syndrome, your immune system — which usually attacks only invading organisms — begins attacking the nerves. In AIDP, the most common form of Guillain-Barre syndrome in the U.S., the nerves' protective covering (myelin sheath) is damaged. The damage prevents nerves from transmitting signals to your brain, causing weakness, numbness or paralysis.

Guillain-Barre syndrome affects your nerves. Because nerves control your movements and body functions, people with Guillain-Barre may experience:

Breathing difficulties.
The weakness or paralysis can spread to the muscles that control your breathing, a potentially fatal complication. Up to 30 percent of people with Guillain-Barre syndrome need temporary help from a machine to breathe when they're hospitalized for treatment.

Residual numbness or other sensations.
Most people with Guillain-Barre syndrome recover completely or have only minor, residual weakness, numbness or tingling.

Heart and blood pressure problems.
Blood pressure fluctuations and irregular heart rhythms (cardiac arrhythmias) are common side effects of Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Pain. Up to half of people with Guillain-Barre syndrome experience severe nerve pain, which may be eased with medication.

Bowel and bladder function problems.
Sluggish bowel function and urine retention may result from Guillain-Barre syndrome.

Blood clots.
People who are immobile due to Guillain-Barre syndrome are at risk of developing blood clots. Until you're able to walk independently, taking blood thinners and wearing support stockings may be recommended.

Pressure sores.
Being immobile also puts you at risk of developing bedsores (pressure sores). Frequent repositioning may help avoid this problem.

Relapse.
Around 3 percent of people with Guillain-Barre syndrome experience a relapse.

Severe, early symptoms of Guillain-Barre syndrome significantly increase the risk of serious long-term complications. Rarely, death may occur from complications such as respiratory distress syndrome and heart attack.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-35419950709458640592018-08-17T23:36:00.002+07:002018-08-17T23:36:23.575+07:00Asian Games 2018 Facts and History

What's Doodle Say About Asian Games 2018

Today’s Doodle celebrates the start of the 18th Asian Games, also known as Asiad. Organized by the Olympic Council of Asia and held every four years, the Asian Games are the second largest multi-sport event in the world, behind only the Olympic Games. This year’s host country is Indonesia, with events happening in the country’s oldest city, Palembang, and the capital city of Jakarta.
Athletes from six Asian countries competed at the first Far Eastern Championship Games in 1913 in Manila. Although these games were discontinued in 1938, there was widespread support for a competition promoting the Olympic ideals of a peaceful society and the “harmonious development of humankind.” The Asian Games as we known them today began following the end of World War II.

This year athletes from 45 countries will compete in 55 events. Swimming and track and field always attract a big audience at the Asian Games, but there are many other sports represented too, ranging from football, fencing, weight lifting, and martial arts, to jet skiing and the card game bridge.

This year marks the debut of another genre of non-physical events: esports, or competitive video games. At the 2018 Asian Games, competitors will play League of Legends, Hearthstone, Starcraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer, Clash Royale, and Arena of Valor. Esports are still considered a “demonstration” category, so they won’t be a medal event this year. But they will be an official event to the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-82665089478939181662018-08-16T12:18:00.001+07:002018-08-16T12:18:43.936+07:00Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid Final Score 2-4 European Super Cup ResultsUEFA Super Cup - Here's a report on the results of the match between Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup match held at A Le Coq Arena Stadium on Thursday (8/16) morning which closed with the final score 2-4.

Diego Costa's Quick Goal, European Super Cup Record
The first round starts, and GOOOOLLL DIEGO COSTA! Real Madrid were shocked by Diego Costa's quick goal. Running fast, Diego Costa's speed defeated Sergio Ramos as he chased a long ball past Diego Godin, was greeted with a header and control of the ball with his head and continued with a hard shot from a narrow angle into Navas's goal! GOAL! Atleti's 0-1 lead!

Real Madrid finally got the chance to take possession of the ball, but soon. Atletico Madrid playing with high tempo makes Real players unable to move.

For the record, Diego Costa's goal is the fastest goal in the history of the European Super Cup!

Real Madrid are still in disarray with Atleti's long balls. Isco's crossing was dispelled, Diego Costa's efforts were still able to be blocked by Ramos.

Atleti's Diego Simeone manager looked in the VIP stands watching his men from a distance. He is still serving a sentence and cannot accompany his squad on the field.

Entering the 15th minute Real Madrid began to compensate for Atleti's game, but all their attacks were driven away by Atleti's players.

17 minutes, Real Madrid's first attack! Asensio sent the ball to Marcelo who continued with a horizontal kick, Jan Oblak managed to secure the goal!

Although without Ronaldo again, Marcelo remains the commander who works well on the left wing. Marcelo's shot in the 25th minute still soared above the crossbar.

Minute 26 GOOOOLLL KARIM BENZEMA !! Real Madrid managed to equalize! From the right wing Gareth Bale sent a beautiful crossing towards the far post of Atleti's goal, greeted with a header by Karim Benzema and GOL! Score 1-1 draw.

62 minutes, PENALTIES FOR REAL MADRID! The fight for the ball in the air welcomed Toni Kroos's corner between Benzema vs. Juanfran, ending with a handball by defender Atleti, the referee pointed to the penalty spot! Costa gets a yellow card because it's too noisy.

Sergio Ramos stepped up to become a Real Madrid penalty taker, stepped slowly and scored! The ball is directed to the left of Atleti's goal, Oblak missteps! Score 2-1

Atletico managed to get back ahead through a goal scored by Saul's volley after receiving a ball from Thomas Partey! 2-3 score!

Luka Modric received a yellow card after breaking Hernandez. Mayoral came on for Toni Kroos.

And in 104 minutes, GOLLL KOKE !! Koke makes the score 2-4! Vitolo sent the ball to Koke who was greeted with cheats, the ball passed Navas's feet!

Entering the second time extension, Atleti still has not relaxed their attack. Costa, Correa and Vitolo are still not satisfied!

Vitolo made Carvajal have trouble, he passed the Real Madrid defender three times, but failed to fire. Sergio Ramos received a yellow card after breaking Saul. Gimenez came on for Diego Costa.

Luka Modric threatened on 114 minutes, the Madrid midfielder fired horizontally but was stopped by Jan Oblak. Real Madrid looked messy in the last minute, not without a chance but all of them did not meet the target.

Ramos is now advancing to the front, but without results! Modric has three opportunities, but all of them are thwarted by Oblak! Atleti's players are now piling up behind.

The referee finally stop the game to end the match, the results of Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid in the European Super Cup closed with a final score of 2-4.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-72351747449501555922018-08-16T00:31:00.003+07:002018-08-16T00:31:50.453+07:00Ebenezer Cobb Morley Facts and History

Ebenezer Cobb Morley became captain of the club and in 1863 he wrote a letter to Bell's Life newspaper proposing a governing body for football. This letter resulted in a meeting taking place at the Freeman's Tavern in London in October, 1863.

The clubs represented at the meeting included Barnes, Blackheath, Perceval House, Kensington School, the War Office, Crystal Palace, Forest (later known as the Wanderers), the Crusaders and No Names of Kilburn. Charterhouse also sent an observer to the meeting.

The Football Association was established at this meeting. The aim of the FA was to establish a single unifying code for football. As Percy Young, has pointed out, that the FA was a group of men from the upper echelons of British society: "Men of prejudice, seeing themselves as patricians, heirs to the doctrine of leadership and so law-givers by at least semi-divine right."

Ebenezer Cobb Morley was elected as the secretary of the FA. At a meeting on 24th November, 1863, Morley presented a draft set of 23 rules. These were based on an amalgamation of rules played by public schools, universities and football clubs. This included provision for running with the ball in the hands if a catch had been taken "on the full" or on the first bounce. Players were allowed to "hack the front of the leg" of the opponent when they were running with the ball.

What's Doodle says about Ebenezer Cobb Morley todays

Before Ebenezer Cobb Morley set down the rules of football in 1863, the game was much more chaotic than the version we know today. His 13th rule gives some indication of how unruly football used to be: 'No player shall wear projecting nails, iron plates, or gutta percha on the soles or heels of his boots.'

Born the son of a minister, Morley grew up a sports enthusiast and went on to study law. After joining Barnes Football Club in London, he realized that the game would be benefit from more structure and regulation. He wrote to the sports newspaper Bell’s Life to make the case for a more organized game.

A meeting followed at Freeman’s Tavern where Morley was joined by members of football clubs across England, who all had input into the rulemaking before Morley drafted his list of 13 rules, which became the standard of play in England.

Morley’s laws helped reduce violence on the field — although he did think players should be able to “hack the front leg” — and formalized the crucial rule we now call offsides, which prevents players from permanently stationing themselves behind an opponent’s defensive line, waiting for a pass.

Morley later helped establish the Football Association, which is still the governing body for football in Great Britain. In 1863 he was elected the Honorary Secretary of the F.A., holding the post until 1866 and president of the F.A. from 1867 to 1874Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-30526962008895011212018-08-14T01:12:00.000+07:002018-08-14T01:12:34.137+07:00Fakta Unik Taman Nasional Bunaken

He often portrayed impoverished farmers or a peasant of pelado origin. The character came to be associated with the national identity of Mexico, and allowed Cantinflas to establish a long, successful film career that included a foray into Hollywood. Charlie Chaplin once commented that he was the best comedian alive, and Moreno has been referred to as the "Charlie Chaplin of Mexico".

To audiences in the United States, he is best remembered as co-starring with David Niven in the Academy Award winner for Best Picture film Around the World in 80 Days, for which Moreno won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

As a pioneer of the cinema of Mexico, Moreno helped usher in its golden era. In addition to being a business leader, he also became involved in Mexico's tangled and often dangerous labor politics. His reputation as a spokesperson for the downtrodden gave his actions authenticity and became important in the early struggle against charrismo, the one-party government's practice of co-opting and controlling unions.

In 1961, Cantinflas appeared with Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson at shopping centers and supermarkets in San Antonio, Texas, to support the successful Democratic nominee to the United States House of Representatives for Texas' 20th congressional district, Henry B. Gonzalez, who defeated his Republican challenger, John W. Goode. Gonzalez was the first Hispanic elected to the Texas State Senate and as a U.S. congressman from Texas.

Moreover, his character Cantinflas, whose identity became enmeshed with his own, was examined by media critics, philosophers, and linguists, who saw him variably as a danger to Mexican society, a bourgeois puppet, a kind philanthropist, a pious Catholic, a verbal innovator, and a picaresque underdog

With a twitch of his slender mustache and a burst of witty doublespeak, Cantinflas captured the hearts of film audiences in Mexico, where he appeared in some four dozen films beginning in 1937. The rest of the world discovered his talents as David Niven’s bumbling valet in the 1956 film Around the World in 80 Days. In Latin America he was beloved by generations of filmgoers, not just for his work as a comedic actor/singer/writer/producer, but for his philanthropy.

Born Mario Moreno Reyes on this day in 1911, he earned money in the streets of Mexico City singing and dancing. There, he worked briefly as a prize fighter, discovering ways to make audiences laugh at his antics. After honing his comedic pratfalls in circus tent shows, he began making films at age 26.

Cantinflas often portrayed a destitute individual (el peladito) who overcame the challenges of life in urban slums. His genius was recognized by the silent film legend Charlie Chaplin, who hailed Cantinflas as the “greatest comedian alive.”

Despite his success, Cantinflas never forgot his roots, at one time providing quality housing for more than 250 low-income families in Mexico City. For this legacy, and his work on screen, he is remembered as a national hero.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-42088507852929191022018-08-10T20:12:00.001+07:002018-08-10T20:12:27.356+07:00MotoGP Austria 2018 Free Practice (FP1) Results

The Singapore National Day Parade is a national ceremony that is usually held at the National Stadium or the Padang. For the first time in 2007, it was held at The float@Marina Bay in lieu of the National Stadium, and this arrangement is expected to be maintained until the new sports hub is opened in April 2014.

On the 2nd/3rd Sunday after the National Day, the Prime Minister of Singapore makes an annual address to the nation, called the National Day Rally. A yearly event since 1966, the Prime Minister uses this rally to address the nation on its key challenges and its future directions, and can be compared to the State of the Union Address delivered by the President of the United States. Prior to 2005, the rally was a continuous speech from 8 pm (SST). From 2005, the Malay and Chinese versions were delivered at 6.45 pm with a break at 7.30 pm while the English version was delivered at 8 pm. Opposition of MPs have been invited to the rally since 2007

National Day celebrations also include fireworks celebrations. They feature several local and foreign teams which launch fireworks displays on different nights. First held in 2004 at Marina Bay, the event was initially known as the Singapore Fireworks Festival and organised by Unusual Productions. The amount of fireworks used has grown in magnitude over the past three years, from 4,000 rounds used in 2004 to over 9,000 in 2006. In 2012, a Mentos commercial encouraged procreation during the same time as the fireworks celebration

This year’s celebrations will be more exciting than ever, as Singapore marks the 50th anniversary of its aerial service with an aerial performance by 21 Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) jets. School choirs will raise their voices from a floating dock in Marina Bay as part of the National Day Parade . Student groups will join the drum corps in this special parade, along with members of the National Cadet Precision Drill Squad. All in all these performers will number more than 560, the largest group ever assembled for the NDP on the floating platform.

This year’s theme song, “We Are Singapore,” is based on a 1966 speech by founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. The song was first performed in 1987 and has been revamped by a young singer-songwriter, Charlie Lim. The day will conclude with fireworks, their brilliance reflecting a glorious and festive day.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-11014941118412194462018-08-01T00:06:00.003+07:002018-08-01T00:06:59.479+07:00Gerda Taro’s 108th Birthday Remarkable By Google Doodle's Today

Gerda Taro, who carried a Polish passport, published her photographs in Ce Soir. She worked with the future Magnum agency co-founder Robert Capa, who was also her partner and first became famous as a war photographer in Spain. She died while photographing a chaotic retreat after the Battle of Brunete, shortly after Franco’s troops had won a major victory.

Gerda Taro, one of the world’s first and greatest war photographers, apparently lying on her deathbed in a hospital during the Spanish civil war, has been found 80 years after she was killed.

The photograph was published on Twitter several days ago by John Kiszely, a retired British lieutenant general, whose Hungarian father, Dr Janos Kiszely, was a volunteer doctor with the International Brigades who fought against Gen Francisco Franco during the Spanish civil war.

Though she was tiny in stature, Gerda Taro had the heart of a giant. Known as “the little red fox,” the ginger-haired photographer fearlessly turned her camera lens to capture sensitive and critical images of conflict around the world, producing powerful black-and-white images that informed readers of the newspaper Ce Soir. In fact, Taro is considered to be the first female journalist in the world to cover the front lines of conflict.

Born on this day in 1910 in Stuttgart, Germany, Taro moved to France shortly after Adolf hitler was appointed the chancellor of Germany 1933. In Paris she met Robert Capa, a fellow refugee three years her junior who taught her the basics of photography. They became friends, changed their names (she was originally named Gerta Pohorylle), and were enamored for a time. Capa would go on to co-found the Magnum Photo agency while Taro became known for her fearless reportage. “The troops loved her and she kept pushing,” said Taro’s biographer Jane Rogoyska. “Capa warned her not to take so many risks.”

During the last five months of Taro’s short career, she worked alone in Spain before tragically losing her life near El Escorial, northwest of Madrid, while capturing images on the front line of the Spanish Civil War in July 1937. By the age of 26, her searing battlefield images made her a household name, even though many of those images were misattributed to Capa.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-40363699226481141072018-07-26T23:11:00.000+07:002018-07-26T23:38:33.728+07:00Lyudmila Rudenko: Chees Career and BiographyBorn in Lubny, Ukraine, Lyudmila Rudenko started playing chess at age ten, but did not seriously study the game until a move to Moscow in 1925. Her first major competition was the 1927 U.S.S.R. Women’s Chess Championship, in which she placed fifth.

The following year, she won the Moscow Women’s Championship ahead of reigning U.S.S.R. Women’s Champion, Olga Rubtsova. In 1950, Rudenko won the first Women’s Chess Championship held following World War II, becoming only the second Women’s World Chess Champion after Vera Menchik.

Two years later, Rudenko won the U.S.S.R. Women’s Championship. In 1950, she earned the title of International Master and in 1976 became a Woman Grandmaster.
Chess career of Lyudmila Rudenko

Rudenko began playing tournament chess in 1925 after a move to Moscow. In 1928, she won the Moscow women's championship. She then moved to Leningrad, where she met and married scientist Lev Davidovich Goldstein; in 1931 they had a son. In Leningrad in 1929 she began training with chess master Peter Romanovsky. She won the Leningrad women's championship three times. She would not reach the peak of international women's chess until she was about 40 years old.

In World War II, Rudenko organized a train to evacuate children from the Siege of Leningrad. She would describe this as the most important thing she had accomplished in her life.

Women's World Champion Vera Menchik died in 1944 during an air raid, so after the war in the winter of 1949–1950 the World Chess Federation FIDE held a tournament in Moscow to determine the new women's champion.

Sixteen women from twelve countries competed, with the four Soviet players taking the top four spots. Rudenko won (scoring nine wins, one loss, and five draws), and held the Women's World Championship title until losing it to Elisaveta Bykova in 1953 in the next championship cycle. She lost to Bykova by the score of 6–8 (five wins, seven losses, and two draws). After the war, Rudenko's chess trainers were Alexander Tolush and Grigory Levenfish.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Moscow, Russia55.755826 37.61729990000003554.606933999999995 35.035512900000036 56.904718 40.199086900000033tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-46054404018366573292018-05-16T00:10:00.001+07:002018-05-16T00:10:37.136+07:00Polish Painter Tamara de Lempicka Honored By Google DoodleToday’s Doodle celebrates Polish painter Tamara de Lempicka, who made a career out of subverting expectations and in doing so, developed her distinct style in the Art Deco era.

Born in Warsaw, Poland in 1898, Lempicka’s love for art started at an early age. As a young child, she spent a summer in Italy with her grandmother, who inspired her love for great Italian Renaissance painters. Upon her parents divorce, she was sent to live with her wealthy aunt in Russia. It was during this time that Lempicka was exposed to the lives of nobility as well as her future husband, Tadeusz Lempicki.

Shortly after their marriage, the Russian Revolution began and Lempicka, now a refugee, moved from St. Petersburg to Paris. It was there, at the height of post-cubism, where she began her formal artistic training under the influence of French painters Maurice Denis and André Lhote.

Internalizing her grandiose and decorative surroundings, Lempicka went on to produce exquisite tributes to the Roaring Twenties in her own unique way, utilizing a blend of late neoclassical and refined cubist styles in her art. Her affinity for the luxurious also led her to fixate on portraits of artists, stars, and aristocrats, which coupled with her considerable charm and exotic lifestyle, lit up the art world and social circles of the period.

Today’s Doodle by Doodler Matthew Cruickshank pays homage to Lempicka’s unique style. Cruikshank shares:

Few artists embodied the exuberant roaring twenties more than polish artist Tamara de Lempicka. Her fast paced, opulent lifestyle manifests itself perfectly into the stylized Art-Deco subjects she celebrated in her paintings. I first encountered Lempicka's work at her Royal Academy show in London, 2004. I was struck by the scale and skill of her paintings coupled with her life (as colorful as her work!). I chose to place a portrait of Lempicka in my design with accompanying motifs evocative of the roaring 20's and 30's. It's no easy feat to recreate any artists work - but I hope to have done so here

South African author and activist Alan Paton's honoured by Google Doodle today, He introduced the world to life in pre-Apartheid South Africa, fearlessly speaking out against racial segregation in person and through his books, and propagating universal franchise and non-violence.

Born in Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal), South Africa, Paton became a prominent figure both in the literary and political world through his writings and public addresses that spoke out against apartheid, the South African system of racial discrimination, during the mid to late 1900s.

Later, as administrator of the Diepkloof Reformatory for young black African offenders, he developed a controversial but compassionate system of reform that included open dormitories, work outside the prison walls, and home visitations.

After graduating from the University of Natal and becoming a teacher, Paton became head of Diepkoof, a prison for young black youths, where he introduced reforms that included open dormitories and home visitations.

After the Second World War, Paton toured correctional reform facilities across the world, during which time he started to write Cry, the Beloved Country. The book was published in 1948. ironically the very year in which apartheid was formally institutionalized, beginning four decades of racial segregation in South Africa.

His magnum opus is a moving tale of racial injustice, human suffering, and redemption, as two fathers come to terms with the loss of their sons — one an accidental murder and the other, his unfortunate victim.

Today’s Doodle depicts Paton on a train ride (on which he allegedly gained inspiration to write Cry, the Beloved Country) and celebrates the 115th birthday of a visionary who did much to fight for basic human principles of love, non-violence, and equality.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Canada56.130366 -106.34677099999999-9.4242829999999955 88.41885400000001 90 58.88760400000001tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6012854418569519621.post-63290307224777427882018-01-09T00:37:00.001+07:002018-01-09T00:37:46.529+07:00Bunga Rafflesia Arnoldii Ternyata Bisa Dibudidayakan
